I think bp intended that as an ironic comment, JLA. She was referring back to Neo's post, which, of course, was not in the least bit acrimonious. My point was that certain subjects tend to provoke acrimonious argument. On SI, at least, politics (contemporary American politics, anyway) does tend to bring out the most combative -- the most rancorous -- side in posters. Much more so than other topics, even religion. (Emile V. is a case apart; let's not get into that one.) My observation, anyway, FWIW. Joan
