It is not just producers. Many parties sold gold forward and bought other future contracts such as the US T-Bond. They have been squeezed at both ends and my guess is that they need and are receiving help right now.

Ashanti and Cambior - yes - but some of the more rabid Barrick haters here would have one believe that the majors like ABX, are in the same boat. I wonder if some of these people's reading is strictly limited to Gata propaganda!
