With a Canadian discount broker trading online about $29 per thousand regardless of dollar amounts in Can or U.S. There are several good ones here such as TD Waterhouse, etc. Wondered if their Canadian connection might help Americans access markets here.

I watch ads from the likes of Ameritrade and others with envy. Full service commissions here can be ridiculous. We also have "know your customer" legislation which means even online traders using a discount broker can be subject to delays while the broker matches your order to your supposed investor profile.

Big problem in the states has been getting a good exchange rate when buying or selling Cdn$. Wondered if it was similar when trading Cdn. stocks. When buying American here, usual practice is setting up a $U.S. dollar account within brokerage but we can convert back and forth very easily with miniscule exchange.
