Apps for All: ASP Sector on FIRE! Got Corio? An ASP That Gets It

In two recent Apps for All reports we focused on private and public pure-play application service providers (ASPs). Two companies in this arena, Breakaway Solutions, Inc. (BWAY $48) and NaviSite, Inc. (NAVI $45-3/4), recently completed their IPOs, and are enjoying tremendous market success to date. Clearly, investors are warming to the ASP model, and making this sector red-hot.

Breakaway Solutions priced at $14 per share on October 5th, and closed at $48 on October 28th. This represents an appreciation of nearly 250% in just over three weeks. Breakaway announced third quarter results on Tuesday, October 26th, with revenue growing 61% sequentially to $7.2 million. ASP revenues as a percentage of total revenues grew to 9%, from 1% in the previous quarter.

NaviSite was priced at $14 a share on October 22nd, and closed at $45-3/4 on October 28th; a rise of approximately 225% in just five business days....
