but they are messy. They are native to my region. And along the peninsula they are very effective.

On side note. Weather here is getting real ugly. Cold rain all day has turned to freezing rain and sleet. Ice storm closer to the lake. Anticipating downed trees and power lines.

Snow by morning, though likely just be a sloppy mess before any reprival, hgopefully Saturday will hit the 50s.

Out west in the intermountain area the Lombardy Poplar is very popular, pun intended. It looks impressive lining a driveway and makes a good wind break. But it is a poor shade tree, too skinny, and has a relatively short life.
