Hi Lee,

Thanks for that comparison.

The way I use my MP numbers, it's never too early... as long as there is sufficient OI. For me, MP gives me a quick view into where the 'concentration' of activity lies.

I post the OEX numbers to give people a number to compare my algorithm against. So if you or others have been even peripherally following, I'd be interested in knowing how 'close' my numbers come to your own or Ben's calcs.

As I recall, you weight/adjust yours differently based on extreme OI that is too 'far away'.
My algorithm is pretty stupid... it just uses all the OI for all strikes (Puts and Calls). No discrimination; no manual intervention on my part. The one item that may be of note or interest is that I count an owner of a Call or Put at a strike as a LOSER. For example, if underlying is at 50, 50C and 50P owners are both LOSERS.

The other item of note is that my calcs are only as good as the OI data source since it's calced automatically w/o any manual intervention. That's another reason I calc it daily... the OI data source can get messed up occasionally, but rarely for consecutive days in a row. So if my "rudimentary" error checks in my program doesn't catch a data error, a far out number one day will hopefully seem pretty obvious from just looking at output from previous days.
