French investment in Sudan to increase: ambassador

KHARTOUM, Oct 27 (AFP) - More French companies will invest in Sudan, particularly in the fields of energy, animal resources and gum arabic, the French ambassador to Khartoum was quoted Wednesday as saying.

The Al Usbu daily said ambassador Michel Raimbaud told Sudanese Foreign Trade Minister Ahmed al-Tahir Hamdoun Tuesday that France has always supported Sudan in different spheres.

He cited continued French participation in all economic fields and stressed the importance of "establishing suitable circumstances for the exchange of visits and increasing joint commercial missions and seminars", the paper said.

Hamdoun told Raimbaud that Sudan had invited all French companies to invest in oil and other sectors in addition to stepping up trade.
He said the government had introduced "flexible" policies for investment in Sudan.
