a few more thoughts...

intel has promised to release the 820 chipset this quarter. i believe it will be sooner rather than later...dell, gateway, ibm and cpq are already advertising rambus systems.

i also believe they have the solution...we would hear nothing otherwise.

if i am wrong about tomorrow...i believe we will see the 820 nlt than the next comdex which is in 2 weeks. oems are already taking pc orders for late november. to get any value from the advertising they need the 820 now. at any rate, intel will have to explain the 820 mobo status tomorrow. several intel senior officials have stated in the past few days that the 820 will ship this quarter. they will at least reconfirm that.

there are two 820 chipsets. one uses sdram. i do not believe intel will release one without the other. dell would have a fit.
