flatsville,

I also doubt that we will get clear answers before the actual event now, as the time remaining is just too short a period, and "they" do not want to tell us everything anyway.
So, I'm glad that at least I'm modestly prepared should things turn out worse than the majority is forecasting. Yogi

P.S. Over on the Prodigy Internet boards there is also a Y2K thread under "Investment Theory" (under the Moneytalk section) that you might be interested in. That thread is a carryover from the old Prodigy Classic days, and has been going on for three or four years now.

This quiet will end Nov 22 when panic will start.
It is so predictable.... all the highly thoughtful articles, essays and reports over a year cannot motivate sheep to think and read between the lines and make simple prudent precautions-- but a 2 hour fictional movie on the idiot box or dumbing down box Nov 21 will shake up the masses.
The tactic of lulling people to sleep with the "72 hr " nonsense was never about "fixing" it in 72 hours-- that is how long they estimate it will take FEMA and the Red Cross to set up emergency shelters.
If only everyone had modest preparations and been informed properly most of the panic -if any -would have happened AFTER trouble began and not before. This is sure going to be interesting to watch play out --- 3 weeks of peace and calm left.

Jeff
I am prepared to be and hoping to be wrong about Y2K - how about you ?

All should read --http://www.gwu.edu/~y2k/keypeople/gordon/part6.html
Part 6 includes a discussion of some of the habits and patterns of thought
and action that seem to be keeping us from acknowledging and understanding
the threats and challenges posed by the Y2K and embedded systems crisis. It
includes a discussion of some of the habits and patterns of thought and
action that are also keeping even some of those who understanding the crisis
from addressing it as effective manner as possible. It also includes an
account of a dialogue between a key player in national and global efforts to
address Y2K and myself, a dialogue that is straight out of the theater of
the absurd.
