I for one am a big skeptic about the options business. It is not what it used to be. The profit margins have shrunk dramatically.

There was a big article about that in, I believe, yesterday's NY Times.

Sure, it will be accretive to NITE's business, but it will take some time to develop, and frankly it is not the cash cow that stock market making is. Much ado about very little, IMHO.

Nope, shorts don't have a thing to worry about, as far as the options nonsense.

The reason to cover the short is very simple - most of the money has already been made on the short side. There is no fear of a sudden explosion of upward movement for NITE - especially with individual tax season still present to the end of the year. But with little potential to the downside, why tie up capital betting on a short, when you could deploy it profitably somewhere else?
