Robertson Stephens Initiates Coverage of VIXL with a Buy Rating
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 1999--Robertson Stephens Managing Director and Senior Communications and Networking Analyst Paul Johnson today initiated coverage of Vixel Corp. (NASDAQ:VIXL - news) with a Buy rating. Vixel manufactures and markets an end-to-end storage-interconnect solution consisting of Fibre Channel switches, managed and unmanaged hubs and intelligent transceivers.

``We are initiating coverage of Vixel with a Buy rating,' said Johnson. ``We expect an opportunity for upside surprise in revenues and earnings as the market for Fibre Channel accelerates over the next few years. Vixel has emerged as one of the leading vendors for Fibre Channel hubs and switches. We believe Vixel will have the opportunity to fully exploit the market's development.'

``Vixel recently reported solid, in-line September quarter results,' said Johnson. ``We estimate that unit growth in the company's fibre-channel-switching line was up by as much as 40 percent sequentially.'

$Mogul - what is your take on AETH. I am somewhat concerned with the revenue figures vs. the valuation. Yes wireless has some hugh upside but at this stage the company looks more in the development stage of many programs. The OpenSky program in conjunction with Cisco seems like it has solid future potential and the wireless market is exploding. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts as I know you may hold this one. The volume today was impressive, lots of buys in the last hour to the tune of 100,000. This one is tough to call, hate to miss a hugh run vis-a-vis PHCM.
