No question his council started something that had/is having far reaching implications. So far it's been an under appreciated event. I'll bet in the next few years it will become more evident how important Vatican II was. You're right, he belongs on the list.

I'm with you Bill. A distinction, however, between Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa -- Mother T. was "hands-on." Dalai Lama has been an important symbol/rallying point. FWIW, I met the Dalai Lama in Tokyo in early 80s and agreed to do him a favor. A mere hint of this brought the entire United States government down on my head. A very interesting fellow.
