Pat: There is nothing that prevents a company from telling the investment community whether or not the quarter will be positive or not. There is no such thing as a "quiet period" as it pertains to the end of a quarter or the the quarterly results themselves. Many companies will alert the investment community of the impending results well before they are published. This happens all the time, particularly when the stock price is being affected by rumours of good or bad results.

By the way, pertaining to Fidelity, now that you've made Fidelity your scapegoat, do you still believe the glass id half full?

I never said that my judgement is superior. I only know that the management teams of Lucent, Nortel, Tellabs, and Cisco have been able to, for the most part, consistently reward their shareholders. How come Newbridge has not been able to do the same thing? Our stock is at 52-week lows, whereas the stock prices of the aforementioned firms at near all-time highs. You talked to the Newbridge management team at the shareholder meeting. Did anyone ask about the poor performance of the company? Did Matthews or Lutz talk about the company's performance? Didn't Matthews say that we are kicking butt? The stock price today certainly does not demonstrate or support that statement. These are boom times for this industry, why aren't we, why isn't this company participating? I don't care what you think of my statements, but there is certainly something wrong with this management team. You bet, this is an uninformed opinion from an uninformed investor.

Pat:

"As for second-guessing management's decisions, unless you've been in a similar position I doubt you can understand what's involved."

"Since you've been fairly vocal on this thread, I'd like to know what you do. What management experience have you had? How many acquisitions have you managed? How many multi-billion dollar companies have you led? How many employees answer to you? How many analysts, shareholders, bankers, and journalists do you respond to each day?"

"I'm not questioning your right to post as having both sides of the issues is helpful to everyone. However, since you've been rather relentless in questioning management's decisions, I'd like to know on what basis your judgement might be superior."

Pat I agree with you 100%, it sure is easy taking pot shots from the cheaps seats.

I think I will spend my time on the JDSU and SDLI threads, certainly alot less negativity there!

Regards

Rob

P.S. Serge I didn't realize that you are now working for the SEC as an investigator. Lots of luck in your new job!
