<<Labor Dept. denies any premature leak of ECI data WASHINGTON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics denied on Wednesday that the data for the third quarter Employment Cost Index was issued prematurely ahead of its scheduled release at 8:30 a.m. (1230 GMT) on Thursday. ``This is highly unlikely given the safeguards we now have in place,' a BLS spokeswoman said, responding to rumors in financial markets that the data had been leaked. Labor has over the last year had several instances where market-moving data has been published inadvertently on the Internet ahead of its scheduled release. It has since tightened its procedures to stop this from happening again.>>
