Do any discount brokers also include a 1099 at
the end of the year that not only reports total
sales by date but also match up transactions so
that you already have a 1040D more or less
ready to go so you do not have the problem of matching all your transactions etc?

Actually I suspect the comment comes from the wash sale rule.
If you're going to go in and go out to get a loss, the 61 day
limit on the bracket is coming up tomorrow.
