wouldn't you just like to hear msft come out and say something like "we're tired of these analysts shooting their mouths off when they really have no clue about our business. business is booming and there is absolutely no slow down in offices sales". wishful thinking i suppose.

thought i'd go check the naz futures after the hwp news but it appears hwp took most of the jerk during market hours, naz futures only -4. the market has been reacting to bad news in techs lately, i was expecting much worse.

i think the hwp news along w/ a salomon cut in intc estimates and the goldman comments on msft contributed to the downward pressure on tech stocks today.

on a side note, abbey cohen said she is maintaining her 1385 targer for the s&p 500 at year end, the index is currently about 1285.

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HWP) 67 -9 3/8: according to the Bloomberg news service, computer and printer company says that there is "increased risk" to Q4 earnings due to problems with its North America sales staff; according to First Call, HWP is projected to earn $0.98 per share, vs year-ago profit of $0.79; company due to report in mid-November....
