Whatever does it all mean?!

With TurboLinux doing one thing, and RedHat getting the SMP Knighthood from Intel (the folks with the Universal Device Driver(tm) thing), as well as Debian going another direction I smell FORKING ahead for the Linux kernel.

Now that's not such a bad thing for *nix, but it's ultimately adding confusion to an already weak 'Linux' brand. More good news for you-know-who.

See, instead of forking Linux on Intel, folks should be forking the re-brandable Sparc core running the mature, secure, reliable, scalable and unforkable Solaris! :)
