The first thing I think of is Genesis when I read this verse. In the beginning.


Yes and the words of God that came to my mind is "Let there be", . Just as I have no doubt that God said "Let there be", and there was, I have the same assurance of "In the beginning was the Word", and there is.

Nancy,etal. I also recognize the reference to Genesis. Surely Jesus was with God then, and has been with Him forever, not just from the time of the Creation. I believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are as one being and all have existed together since eternity began. I feel that there as NEVER been one without the others. John 1:2 says; "He was in the BEGINNING with God. He created EVERYTHING there is. NOTHING exists that He didn't make. LIFE itself was in Him..." That pretty well seals it for me.
