Maverick: The post you cite is all over the place: Cutting back orders because INTC swamped, INTC having manf'g. difficulties, Y2K cutbacks. Well what is it are there not enough PIII's or because of Y2K concerns are there too many. On top of this SSB lowers the FY estimates but leaves the target price at 95.
This is all BS and what it comes down to is that if there are not enough PIII's to go around then INTC has pricing power as AMD certainly isn't going to produce the world demand for CPU's. If there are production issues I a sure INTC is aware of them and will get it straightened out as that is their business. It seems that their biggest problem is 820 and from what one can gather around the various boards the 820 problems are strictly mechanical in nature and are soon to be worked out. In the meanwhile they say that 2 slots work just fine. I think this is all disinformation from the analysts as they have missed the fact that PC's are still selling like gangbusters and will go up dramatically with the turn of the year. I am amazed that anyone can put a negative spin on pent up demand for PC's and servers and INTC coming out with the greatest product cycle they have ever been involved in. A lot of this crap is due to the analysts pretending that they are running these companies and not seeing the marketing and production picture as clearly as those who actually run them.

This too shall pass.
