No software required by the company. It is hooked up through my ethernet port. They provide you with a little box about 1x6x5. This is how it works. It calls up the beam, the beam sends out the signal, you receive the signal via the air, via microwave. You are no longer concerned with your connection via the phone cause your internet connection is then generated through the air. I am quite happy with the service. Extremely, extremely fast. I never have to wait for a page to come up. Even web sites that have java script and large files come up in a matter of seconds.
