Wily, I have read the Intel quotes several times. How, pray tell, do you construe this as "abandoning" Rambus? Even the most generous reading of actual Intel quotes reveals the following: 1) Rambus is still their preferred long term solution. 2) They still see any other technology as an interim step 3) the 820 is coming soon.

Hi wily; What do you mean, "Intel abandoned Rambus (publicly)"? If they did, I certainly haven't seen the link. If that happens, I will have to seriously rethink my AMD trade, as it is the Rambus albatross that is cursing Intel to a large degree.

Can Via make decent chips? If they can't Intel is in a lot of trouble this quarter. My guess is that they can. The DDR memory interface isn't a whole lot worse than the Athlon bus, I don't think it will be that big of an issue.

As far as what is going to happen tomorrow, I always try to avoid short term predictions. I am hoping that after another 5 or 10 years watching stocks I will have a better feel for that sort of thing. It seems like my predictive capabilities are good for time scales on the order of a couple years, or on the order of a few seconds.
