You mean--- first she gave you a discount, and then she gave you the extra food???
You charmer!
Could you come talk to my mortgage company?

Tomorrow night I get a good dinner. I'm doing my volunteer shift at the soup kitchen in downtown Fort Worth. You get to eat if you're a hostess at a table and the food is a whole lot better than my cooking.

Recently I was standing in line at the grocery when the
register for the adjacent line cratered. The next customer
in that line was a nurse with a cart full of groceries.
She looked patient but weary. One of the managers approached
her, poked through her groceries and quietly said something
to her. She nodded and as she wrote a check for the
manager's estimated amount, he sacked her groceries.

It was a nice touch in what seems to be an increasingly
impersonal retail world.
