Duke,

Never thought I lived to see the day. Taiwan, an island country the size of New Jersey would rock the high tech world's supply chain.

Here's some encouraging news. Hope the 20 1/8 last into tomorrow<G>.

Compaq Computer (CPQ: news, msgs) traded 5/8 better to 20 1/8 on Instinet. The company surprised Wall Street, reporting late Tuesday net income that was 2 cents better than expected as sales in its retail business rose 22 percent. The PC maker said its net income, excluding charges, was 7 cents a share, beating the average estimate of analysts, who foresaw a 5 cent gain. See full story. Compaq's commercial PC revenue declined 16 percent sequentially, due to reductions in channel inventory, pricing pressures and the Taiwan earthquake.
