"The second issue is bullish in the long term, especially when combined with the upcoming joint venture for nicotine gum. This isn't a rumor. The company said it will be done by the end of the year. The only unknown is who their partner is and how significant it will be. I personally believe that it will be very significant."

Yes it IS rumor at this point. Companies say a lot of things but that doesn't make it so. ZONA "said" it would get Vasomax approved for use in the USA by the year 2000. It isn't going to happen. A person or a company can SAY anything anytime they want to. I go on facts. The fact is that GUMM does NOT have a joint venture locked up at this time and by the end of the year they may be making all kinds of excuses as to why it didn't happen. Then what will you do? You have nothing to go on but their word and your belief. When it comes to my money, a hand shake and a smile aren't good enough. I've been burned too many times that way.

As for their losses last year, there's always an excuse or explanation for that too. What about the year before or the year before that? What about the last two quarters, for that matter? I'll say it again. GUMM is a net money loser. It always has been and, as far as I can tell, will continue to be a NET money LOSER. Until I see something different in their SEC filings, I would not risk any money on them. Obviously, that's not the way you do things and that's ok as long as you're not handling money for me.

An interesting analogy would be the game of pitch. I love to play pitch up at hunting camp with my hunting buddies. I used to be a gung ho pitch player that bid whenever he had a few good cards in his hand. After awhile, I realized that if I played conservatively and bid only when I either had to or had an unbeatable hand, I won a hell of a lot more money in the long run. That's the way I play the market and it works the same for me.
