Don't recall a hand-shaking, more one of those upper body bobbing things (bowing/nodding/whatever). Some smiling. A very few words. I was agreeable to him meeting with some Japanese journalists in convenient offices under my control. Purely a passive assist. As noted before, others did not share my views -- worrying perhaps about the appearance of one of those pesky "signals" that lofty types so enjoy fantasizing about. The only thing that appeared over my head was a very dark cloud.
