WebTrends Rises Amid Optimism About New Products

Portland, Oregon, Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of WebTrends Corp., a maker of software that lets companies analyze Web site use, rose 16 percent amid optimism about several new products set to be released, analysts said.

WebTrends rose 9 7/16 to 69 1/8 on Nasdaq. The stock has risen more than fivefold since the company first sold shares to the public in February at $13 each.

Demand for software that lets companies better manage Web sites is surging as more products and services are sold on line. WebTrends will release the second version of its CommerceTrends program which tracks the effectiveness of Web sites and makes revenue projections. The software addresses customer requests for a program that can store large quantities of data.

The Portland, Oregon-based company is also preparing to offer tracking and analysis services for customers, said Paul Saunders, an analyst at SoundView Technology Group in San Francisco, who has a ``strong buy' rating on the shares.

WebTrends, whose said its customers include Ford Motor Co., Boeing Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
