Bill,

I recall you saying at one time, "look at the Bank Stocks."
I believe your point was, if this sector is doing good,
every other sector will catch up.

Do you think the mkt. is pretty much out of the hole
now?

William -- Thank you for your energetic, concise and plausible counter-argument. I tend to think of it as a grossly over-valued stock with declining growth prospects and a questionable business model -- one where growth will slow and profits will always be someplace over the rainbow. I could be wrong -- good luck.

Amazon Reports Solid September Quarter Results; Increasing Revenue And Loss Estimates.
Earnings Per Share Old New P/E Ratios
(FY:Dec.) 2000E $(0.50) $(1.10) NM
1999E (0.95) (1.09) NM
1998A (0.25)

Rating: TOP PICK Change: None 12-Mo. Target: $140

September quarter slightly above our published numbers: $355.8 million in revenue (+13.2% q/q, +131.5% y/y) vs. our $348.9 million estimate; and EPS of ($0.26), a penny above our estimate. *13.1 million customers at end of quarter, up from 10.7 million in June, well above consensus estimates of 12-12.5 million. *Significant revenue diversification should be visible in Q4, providing near-term returns for substantial (and increased) spending initiatives. *Significantly raising revenue estimates, increasing loss estimates. *Reiterating our Top Pick rating and 6-12 month price target of $140.>>
