You remember well. I thought the Pentium II would have trouble because of the cost of the motherboard and the first chipsets. In fact they were more expensive but it didn't matter. That's why I laugh when people complain about the cost of the Athlon boards, which I understand are coming down in price daily. Not to mention, I think they are 6 layer PCBs that cost a little more. P-II had the same problems as Athlon on first start up. As with the CUMine running some integer benchmarks faster than the Athlon, the K-6 ran some faster than the P-II but not the FPU...at first.
