They are not only not born without sin, but they may have sinned for much of their life, and still end as saints. And the "pesky miracle thing" is a sign of God's grace operating in them, and meant to be an encouragement to the faithful.....

Just read the other paragraph...Although you are right that martyrs once were automatically accepted, I do not think that is true in modern times. In any event, only Catholics are eligible for canonization, still....
