OK, I know its unfair of me to post one of my 'Microsoft better watch its back' posts while Lindy is traveling for his competition, but I received this in an email today and thought I'd pass it along. Its a summary of an article that apparently was posted on the WSJ web site today (sorry, I can't provide the link because I don't have a subscription)

-----------------------------------------------------------

After years of bondage to the Redmond giant, and with Windows 2000
delayed even further as of Tuesday, more PC makers are serious about
cheap and easy appliance boxes, according to the Wall Street Journal.
With Internet-Economy fat cat AOL on its arm, Gateway is building a
Microsoft-free PC. Compaq hasn't decided which software it will use in
its new Internet line of PCs. Dell is contemplating no-Windows PCs.
Company spokesmen were mum on the reports, and the Journal gave them
second billing on its Web site this morning. The paper's reporters,
meanwhile, piled on comments from anonymous industry execs and people
"familiar with the situation" and "close to efforts." "The Internet
gives people a platform to do most of the things they need to do on a
PC without a cumbersome and expensive operating system," the Journal
quoted an unnamed industry executive. Translation: Windows is a pig.
Who needs it?

Glad you corrected that statement from the first post when you left out the word 'NOT'. <g>
