Mr G., I would never presume to second guess Mr. Soros and his market timing. Historically speaking Nov - Jan have been positive months. Who knows this year with Y2K? I know he never called me with any trades like that when I was with the old DWR (LOL)

Given the vast amount of index-related purchases the rumor at least makes "sense".

IThe average guy could then believe that, if Soros is putting out 2 yards, then the market must be cheap. He must believe that there are no more negative surprises (like IBM, and many others) left.

Otoh, if he did, he could have done much slower, without overbuying the anyways overheated market. ...you know that it was an outright buy and no short covering?
