DJ Cisco's Chambers: Y2K Concerns A Temporary Blip

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) Chairman and Chief Executive John Chambers said any slowdowns related to the Y2K computer glitch will be a temporary blip, and said the company's growth forecasts for the next two years remain unchanged.

"We view Y2K as a three- to four-month phenomenon, a temporary blip," Chambers told CNBC Friday. He said the company expects its market will grow at 30% to 50% a year for the next one or two years. "Our guidance has not changed on that," Chambers said.

Chambers added that Cisco will probably buy 20 to 25 companies in the next year.
