DULLES, Virginia--America Online said it's seeking a replacement
for Jack Davies, who is leaving his post as president of its
international division but will remain with the company in a new
role.

Davies, 49, has worked at the Dulles, Virginia-based company for 5.5
years, said spokeswoman Ann Brackbill. In his new position, Davies will
evaluate new markets for the company's services, she said. AOL declined
to comment on whether it has any candidates in mind to replace Davies as
international chief.

Davies wants to get away from the day-to-day operations of the
international unit because of the travel and time demands of the job,
Brackbill said. AOL runs online services in countries such as Australia,
Germany, and Japan and has 3.4 million non-U.S. subscribers, she said.

The company says its AOL service has more than 19 million subscribers.
Its CompuServe unit has roughly 2.2 million users.

Davies's resignation was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
