BACKGROUND: Judge Jackson has announced that his Findings of Fact in the Microsoft antitrust trial in Washington will be issued on "a Friday" soon -- possibly Friday, Oct. 29, or possibly later. The decision will be public at 6:30 p.m. EASTERN time (parties will be alerted shortly prior to that.) IF JUDGE JACKSON ISSUES THE ORDER ON OCT. 29, the telephone news briefing will be conducted that evening at 7:30 p.m. EASTERN time. (We expect to convene the call in a succeeding week if the decision comes later.) Attorney General Tom Miller is the head of the Executive Committee of the 19-state Microsoft Working Group and is the former chair of the Antitrust Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General. General Blumenthal also has been a leader in the States' action and is the chair of the NAAG Antitrust Committee.
