WHAT: Telephone News Briefing IF Judge Jackson issues Findings in Microsoft antitrust case. (The Court will announce late Friday whether Findings will be issued this week or not.) There will be statements by General Miller and General Blumenthal, and then reporters will be able to ask questions. BACKGROUND: Judge Jackson has announced that his Findings of Fact in the Microsoft antitrust trial in Washington will be issued on "a Friday" soon -- possibly Friday, Oct. 29, or possibly later. The decision will be public at 6:30 p.m. EASTERN time (parties will be alerted shortly prior to that.) IF JUDGE JACKSON ISSUES THE ORDER ON OCT. 29, the telephone news briefing will be conducted that evening at 7:30 p.m. EASTERN time. (We expect to convene the call in a succeeding week if the decision comes later.) Attorney General Tom Miller is the head of the Executive Committee of the 19-state Microsoft Working Group and is the former chair of the Antitrust Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General. General Blumenthal also has been a leader in the States' action and is the chair of the NAAG Antitrust Committee.
