OSC allows Cowpland to trade shares while awaiting trial
Corel board meets without chairman
...One legal expert suggested a number of reasons why Corel's directors might want to meet independently of Mr. Cowpland.

"The board is to act in the best interests of the shareholders," said Mary Condon, a law professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. "(Corel) might want to take action against Mr. Cowpland to recover any money that may have been lost to the corporation as a result of his alleged actions."

Or, she added, they could be meeting "to ensure that they took correct procedures to ensure that material information was released in a timely manner by the company (so) no allegation could be made by shareholders that the board is implicated in a loss of shareholder value" relating to the charges against Mr. Cowpland.
