Mr Ballmer's comments trouble more than just you and me, unfortunately, Frank. The worse part of the whole situation is that his comments spooked the institutions that have held MSFT for years, and banked on its reliability and stability even though MSFT had that nasty habit of talking down expectations at earnings.

These same institutional houses have now lost a little of that hard earned confidence in MSFT, and it remains to be seen if MSFT can settle the jitters. MSFT crossed a subtle but ever so important threshold, they became just as unpredictable as CPQ in some ways when Ballmer came out with his nutty comments. Time should take care of the problem, provided Ballmer doesn't open his big mouth again. But until the institutional houses regain *complete* confidence in MSFT, the road will be bumpy...at least by MSFT standards!
