>>Why should Microsoft defend its own stock while they knew the good news will be released at 6:30PM on Friday ?

I'm becoming more hopeful that the news will be good. Recent headlines are weakening case of monopoly:

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) 90 -7/8: The Wall Street Journal is running a story about some major PC makers developing new models that will not use MSFT's operating systems, the PC makers mentioned were Gateway (GTW 62 1/4 +1/4), Dell (DELL 38 15/16 +9/16) and Compaq (CPQ 19 7/16 +3/8).....

Also Oracle introducing NC based on Linux...

There appears to be alternatives.

The judge should also consider that MSFT has been the main driver behind the PC revolution that has lifted US over Japan as the #1 world economy. Does this indicate impediment to technological advancement as other companies have claimed? Breaking up MSFT could be a dangerous proposition for the whole US economy...

I do think though that it is fair for MSFT to be fined for their bad coercive behaviors.
