Hi daffodil. How is the fall foliage this year in your part of the world?

I think everyone who hangs around here (with the possible exception of Jim, who has the temerity to spend the holiday in Las Vegas <g>) is prepared in his or her own way. Even Cheeky (YAWN!) Kid has told us that his home is always equipped for emergencies. It seems that he doesn't think this situation warrants any additional preparation. That doesn't mean he hasn't prepared in his way.

Different people have drawn different conclusions in their assessments of the risks. Different people are dissimilarly situated. And, as you suggest, people have varying levels of risk tolerance. That doesn't mean they're not all "prepared," to use Bearcub's term of choice.

It's useful to discuss differences because that helps each of us clarify our own thinking--until a focus on differences leads to demonizing others. As we approach 2000, wouldn't it be nice if we could come around to thinking of each other not as members of opposing camps but, instead, consider each other simply "differently prepared."
