Well, the real winner comes from the cool head, all the times.

The uncertainty started when the trial started last May, but the stock doubled during that period .So, why the uncertainty , the Judge will announce his findings of fact on a certain Friday at 6:30 PM is different than the uncertainty during the trial was on going ? No difference at all, just business as usual, the big boys want to buy your shares cheap, so they manipulated the stock price.

What if Microsoft failed the first round ? Again , business as usual, a appeal will start immediately, and which will last more than two years, and Micrisft's price will continue to move to the north .

What if Microsoft lost in the appeal court ?
The worst case will be split the MSFT into certain baby MSFTs. Or a penalty of , say , $2B . But at the time the picture of the whole industry will be changed, and it will be stupid for the judge to rule against Microsoft at that time. So, the trial is of no event, only the big boys use this opportunity to manipulate the stock to get the shares from you "Cheap".

Who would like to see the settlement the most ?
The judge !! People probably still remember who encourage both sides to settle during the break ? It is really hard for the judge to judge at this point thinking about what have been changed in the software industry during the past one and half years. The Linux effect, the AOL effect, the Java effect, the landscape was changed completely, how can you say that Microsoft had a monopoly ? If Microsoft did have a monopoly , how can Linux penetrate the market ? Who is the political candicate who liked to see this show get over as soon as possible ? I bet AG, the democratic presidential candidate. Thinking about the fact that more than 70% of the people invest in Microsoft, either through Mutual fund, or direct stock , and this is their retire fund. What if the Republican candidate put a label and say that Democratic president is against competition , and help the competitors to destroy Microsoft, your retirement fund ? Well, this election is over easily . Will people elect a president who is to destroy their life long investment for retirement ? So, the judge is hesitating , and pray for a settlement.

Why a certain Friday , not a fixed date, that the judge will announce the finding of fact ?
Well, give both sides more time to negotiate a settlement , so the time frame is set to be flexible .

Why Microsoft did not drop much with very heavy trading volume ?
Big boy is buying, from those small investors frighten by the mediams.

So, before the big move, there is always a pulse of drop, the storm before the sunshine. People still remember last October ?

Microsoft needs to split its stock so that the stock can be reachable by millions of small investors, it will make its stock less manipulable by those big boys. Just look at SUNW, AOL ...etc. Split the stock whenever it hits $100 .
