Felix, RE: The market makers know the stock movement before we do, and they have the analysts to move the stock, even when the analysts are wrong.

No, they don't.

If this was such an easy business to make money in, as you suggest, why are all the Wall St. firms falling all over themselves to get OUT of the market making business, leaving it to execution-only firms? After all, the execution-only firms do not have the benefit of having analysts, which according to your scenario is essential to making money.

Felix and everyone else that answered Paul's 91243 and ALL: Those answers are what make these boards worth while. There was more common sense bundled into those responses than the sum of the verbiage that pours forth ad nauseum from the pundits and experts. Great comments. JFD
