I suspect there is also a definitional problem. There are things defined as crime today that were not a crime in previous years. The most obvious perhaps is the massive increase in drug related prosecutions.

I stated that the study only looked at correlatives nihil.

But, there are several issues which statisticians assume are causative. Education leads to affluance. Age leads to health disorders and death. And poverty leads to crime.

People commit crimes for one of two reasons, they want or need something they cannot afford. Institutional criminals steal for want, they want a flashy car, nice jewelry, etx. Poverty criminals steal for need. They need food for their children, they need money for rent.

Then you have violent crimes, which for the most part are caused by stress or drug use, both of which accelarate with poor economies.

But tell me about your theory nihil. I'd like to hear how conservatives cause crime. I'd think that the dope smoking liberals would be more likely to be a crime statistic than a brown suited banker, but I might be missing the boat. After all, I'm biased.
