Sona Koyo (India) Ltd profits sky-rocket by 72 pc

New Delhi: Sona Koyo Steering Systems Ltd. (Sona) has reported a 72.6 per cent increase in net profits at Rs 5.11 crore for the half-year ended September 30, 1999, as against Rs 2.96 crore for the same period in the previous year.

The turnover for the same period went up by 42 per cent at Rs 110.65 crore (previous year Rs 77.81 crore) as a result of preferences shares amounting to Rs 10 crore issued to Koyo Seiko Co, Ltd, Japan at a coupon of ten per cent p.a. Sona also expects to reduce its debt serving cost in the current financial year, a company release said.
