DownSouth, Thanks for posting the URL of the article for everyone to see. Exactly what propaganda did the author fall for? First, this propaganda: "A first version of Oracle's CRM software released in June produced an impressive $45 million in sales in its first three months." Though I don't have any empirical evidence to refute it, there's no way anyone, especially Larry Ellison, will convince me that his company sold $45 million in one quarter of a first-version CRM product. That's a run rate of $180 million per year. And if it's the first version, why is it that Ellison has been claiming for so long that his company is the #2 CRM software company and even longer that Oracle is the fastest growing CRM software maker? None of it adds up. Second, there was the propaganda in the form of ommission. The article made a huge point of saying that SAP is discounting its software to the point of giving it away. Yet the author made no mention of the accusations that Oracle is bundling its CRM software in a way that disguises the real price of the stuff. I am a Siebel shareholder. But for those who think I might have lost my objectivity about Oracle, I seem to be the only person on the planet who studies the front office market that thinks it's too early to declare Siebel the gorilla. I think that because of the potential threat of Oracle and the other ERP players. --Mike Buckley
