10/29/99 - Go2Net to offer Net2Phone service through its site ------------------------------------------------------------ SEATTLE, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Web gateway Go2Net Inc. (GNET.O) said on Friday it had struck a deal to offer Net2Phone Inc.'s (NTOP.O) online telephone and other communications services through Go2Net's site. Net2Phone allows a user to place phone calls from a personal computer through the Internet at cheaper international rates than conventional phone lines. Under the terms of the three-year deal, the two companies will jointly create a messaging and communications center on Go2Net's site (http://www.go2net.com), where users can send and receive voice mail, faxes, e-mail and telephone calls from a single Web site. The deal gives Net2Phone access to Go2Net's users, which totaled 10 million in September, according to Media Metrix. Net2Phone has committed at least $5 million a year in marketing throughout the Go2Net network, which includes business hosting sites HyperMart and Virtual Avenue. The companies will share in the revenues derived from Net2Phone's services after Net2Phone has achieved certain minimum revenues. The company declined to specify the minimums. Shares of Net2Phone closed at 52-1/2 Thursday on Nasdaq, while Go2Net shares closed at 59-1/16.
