<<<It is a very little thing to do, and definitely doesn't deserve the accolades you all have so kindly awarded.>>>

Well, the award wasn't just for doing it.
Some of the Committee's considerations:

You had the guts to do it.
You had the Good Will to do it. You thought of it and did it.
You have a sense of humor and share it; with them and us and everyone.
You brought the story to us, so we could be there and enjoy it too, and maybe not be skerred of stuff.
You called that Jan a wimp. (I tell ya, it's about time.)
You made an undoubtable difference in people's life.
You were sqwawk not squeak.
You kept your food off your clothes.
You inspired; and didn't preach. (I guess in our favorite situations, they go hand in hand.)
You made us feel good, and opened possibilities. Spread.

Uhm ~ that's for starters, somebody may want to fill in the stuff I forgot.

All in all, it was a 9.75 on the scale of 1 to 10, and that was only because some of the purists voted that the ten should never be awarded.

As the guy said, "You are......you are......" (We know this is embarrassing, so...... so, you're stuck.)

Oh - !!! Oh Penni ... Karma pegged it. What did JD's eyes tell you? I'll wager my SNRS that they said "You're all right for a skinny rich blonde"!

P R

Giving of yourself is more risky of course, but it is also more rewarding . It is probably more important than material giving in the long run... Because it allows, IMO, for both parties to interact, understand, learn etc. whcich has lasting effects, long after the meal has been digested...

The easy way of course is to write a check and forget about it..

But of course we need both. someone to buy the food and the Rambis of the world to serve it.. But R probably does both.

Again, I salute you.. And I do not think telling us where the tattoo is located would be boring..

curious coug....

Besides which it is a lot of fun. I urge you all to try it.

Last Saturday I participated with my church singles group in
repairing and painting a wood-frame house owned by a 73-year-old
woman whose income is $540 a month. We got the project thru the
Private Sector Initiative organization (hope I got the name right)
which supplies the materials thru private funding.

It was a fun day well spent. There seems to be a bonding
that develops among a volunteer group that wouldn't otherwise
happen -- and a renewed appreciation of how good most of us
have it. When the homeowner heard us discussing our plan to
order pizza for lunch, she said, "Domino won't deliver to this
neighborhood."
