DownSouth, my reference to Dell was intended to mean that some smart (lucky?) people sold their Dell earlier this year to get into QCOM--for them, it was a good and happy move (ask Franq); however, those who sold JDSU any time recently in order to buy Q are probably a little frustrated...I was just contrasting those two "exchange for more Q" scenarios. I have read the Gorilla Game and know about the G&K thread's interpretations regarding Q, Dell, JDSU, etc. IMHO, Geoff Moore's expertise (excepting CSCO) is more in computer software and hardware--have never been very impressed by his "understanding" of QCOM--...the computer and software industries (and the time period in which they grew fastest) are the context in which his concepts originated and are most applicable...while the book provides a useful hermaneutics for looking at non-computer industries, I'm not sure it has the same level of applicability (accuracy) in describing them (will need to check out his addendums in the 1999 version, though)...hence my feeling that applying GG nomenclature to QCOM and JDSU can (at times) be strained.
JMHO.
Cheers, MM
