RE: JDSU vs. QCOM

The only thing I would add is Q represents the most compelling example of current growth(CDMA and wireless voice penetration) and future growth(convergence to 3G and wireless data) I have ever seen. This, coupled with the IPR lock on 2G CDMA and apparent(hope to soon be certain) IPR lock on 3G CDMA, and you have as close to a sure thing as it gets. The only comparable example I remember was AMGN when their initial anemia drug was first approved. I sold that one too soon. Not this time.

Mucho Maas, cfoent: From the CC last night, management stated that the guidance for this quarter was 15% growth QoQ. They did 20%. Guidance going forward is 15% as well. Lets be optimistic and assume 20% going forward. Given we just posted .29, the next 4 Qs would be about .35, .42, .50, and .60 for a total of 1.87. With the stock currently at 169, that's a forward PE of about 90.

For Q, assuming .90 this Q (a bit conservative I think) and assuming 10% growth (conservative?) QoQ going forward, I get 1.05, 1.15, 1.26, and 1.39 for a total of 4.85. Stock is at 224, so that's a forward PE of about 49. Looks like a reasonable place to be!

Makes sense on HDR. If HDR was available I would choose it over the CSCO-group fixed link. I would be able to connect my cell phone and laptop and go anywhere I wanted. Hardware, service, bills, from only 1 service.

PS. My #1 holding is Q and my #2 holding is JDSU. Bought a few JDSU Nov 155 puts as a hedge this morning. Ok, Ok, I was bored.

Is JDSU really the biggest or just the biggest small company?
Does JDSU compete with NT?
Does JDSU have blocking IP to preclude serious competition?
