Wily, I think this is another example of the fact that Rambus earnings are not realized immediately. Investors believe there is still plenty of time to get into this stock before it "justifies" a runup with actual 820 shipping followed in April by earnings. Today is a hot day on the NASDAQ. There is a feeling of other issues that if you do not catch them today, you may miss an immediate run. Money is moving, but this is not necessarily an abandonement of Rambus. JMHO POmp

"There's something wrong with this picture"

Buying opportunity says I. I'm happy as hell I was able to get some btwn 68-69 this morning.

Rambus has been a GREAT ! trading stock this last month but, after the conference last night I've started rebuilding my long position. After all, there's only 8 weeks left in the quarter and we could very likely get a 20 point move on the camino release.

re: rally in market

Intel really put too much doubt into the minds of investors and it is agreed that we are now a "show-me" stock. Any rally that we have had in the past month has been a false rally. But IMO Rambus will withstand this storm and in the long run prevail.

As always it has remained a perfect stock for swing trading; not for me though.

Still long.

You're right. For all who were expecting an explosion in Rambus when it finally was announced to be a major player, it ain't coming. Tye botched intro of Sept. 27th ruined that. There will be a cloud overhanging this stock until what is supposed to happen actually happens.

Re: There's something wrong with this picture...

There's nothing wrong with it.

DDR is a go for this quarter or early next quarter. PC133 and VC are both shipping now. Rambus was priced with the expectation that Intel would be able to block these events. Rambus PCs will ship pretty soon, but never get much above 5% of the market. By 2002 they will be gone.

Small, high bandwidth devices (video games and video cards) are moving to SGDRAM and embedded DRAM. Rambus will have a future in certain applications, but it will be small volume future - not the "domination of the PC memory market" anticipated a few months ago. Intel has announced that it will offer rambus, PCXXX, and DDR and let the marketplace decide which it prefers. The stock prices of rambus and Intel are starting to reflect that.
