It is a thorny problem, especially when one looks at people from a different perspective in time. Perhaps we should consider the deeds despite personal views or failings.

I have heard some very strange stories about Gandhi as well; yet overall, his achievements were immense and worthwhile.

Well if you look at things in context, King's womanizing during his time was probably as unremarkable as Schweitzer's views on blacks at the time he was alive. JLA
