I agree. I was talking theortically. In practice they are rarely equal. (that's why I used the term plain vanilla) Sorry I wasn't clear.

I realize there are also tax issues which benefit the company but there are repricing issues working in the other direction.

I think we should agree to disagree here. IMHO....

Austrian analysis or not, I would gladly accept nothing for my work in the form of options calculated to be worth twice the value of my present cash salary. Over the long haul I will be compensated twice as much. That will come out of the hide of prior shareholders, the taxman or both.
